Keynote:
Future State CIO – Outside-In Leadership

Location: Grande Ballroom

Jay Crotts, VP of IT Services, Shell Information Technology International

Moderator: Trent Aulbaugh, Consultant and Head NA Industrial CIO Practice, Egon Zehnder International

Jay Crotts will outline his key strategy of looking at leadership from an “outside-in” perspective, that is building a leadership foundation based on how the outside business views and values IT vs. an inside technical view.   IT must deliver on table stake expectations such as operational stability, project delivery and product development.    How an IT leader goes about this can be game changing for them personally and for their business.  Some of the game changing elements Jay will highlight are speaking the business language, ensuring IT programs are fit-for-purposed and tied to business outcomes, measuring business perceptions in balance with IT KPIs and establishing credibility along the way by saying ‘no’ when you need to (which might get you a seat at the table or get you fired!).   In short, the whole IT function must be aligned with this way of thinking and as an IT leader that is a great quest.
